How to know your court case status in India
We should be thankful to the eCommittee, Supreme Court of India for conceptualizing e-Courts Project with a vision to transform the Indian Judiciary by ICT (Information and Communication Technology) enablement of Courts. Case status can be known even from your smart phone.
Now everyone with the convenience of a click know their case status from https://services.ecourts.gov.in/ with the help of CNR Number or Party Name or Case Number or Filing Number or Advocate Name or FIR Number.
Know you case status with CNR Number
Upon accessing following link https://services.ecourts.gov.in/you will be directed to the below shown home page, by default ‘CNR Number’ search page will be open, if not, please select this from left hand pane available on the layout.
The CNR Number will be alpha numeric, for example – MHAU030151912016 (it is a combination of state name, district name, year of filing and filing number sequence). Without providing any additional details this will automatically take you to your case status page, please enter the CNR number in blue colored box and also the captcha before clicking on the search button.
The case status will be displayed after clicking on the search button which will be categorized under the following heads:
The details section contains case type, filing number, registration number, CNR Number, filing date and registration date as shown below.
This section displays the start date of the case and the next hearing date of the case and it also shows the stage of case, court number and judge, as shown in the screenshot below.
If your case is stalled at the same stage for long duration without your knowledge or for a valid reason then it should be a concern for you to look into it personally, there are chances that your advocate may be misguiding you.
Petitioner and Advocate
The name of the person who initiated the case will be shown here along with the advocate who is representing such person before the court of law.
Respondent and Advocate
This section shows against whom the case has been initiated and the name of the advocate who is representing such party in the court of law.
In this section, we will get to know in which act and under what sections a case has been filed.
History of Case Hearing
This section shows the case history by each date.
Know your case status with Party Name or Case Number or Filing Number or Advocate Name or FIR Number
Upon accessing following link https://services.ecourts.gov.in/ you will be directed by default to the CNR Number search page and you need to click on the ‘Case Status’ from left hand pane available on the layout, which will open up as shown below.
Please select your state, district and court complex where the case is filed and then case can be traced by selecting any one option as shown below – in this scenario the case is tracked with the help of case number.
